Current Research
Which evolutionary forces gave rise to the beautifully diverse biodiversity we see today? My research in the Salzburger group aims at closely examining the underlying forces that shape biodiversity, or more precisely, genetic diversity, which are the tiny molecular differences that distinguish individuals of a given species. I am addressing this topic by using genomic and life history data of the taxonomically, ecologically, phenotypically, and behaviorally very diverse group of east African Lake Tanganyika cichlid fishes.
