Current research
My interest is aimed at investigating the use of stable hydrogen isotopes as an indicator for trophic position in animals. Stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes are mostly used in isotopic food web studies. However, recent studies suggest that stable hydrogen isotopes can also be applied to get a deeper understanding of trophic relationships. In my current project I will work with cichlids from Lake Tanganyika as a model organism to study their feeding ecology using stable hydrogen isotopes.
